At Airborne Signs, we specialise in creating innovative healthcare branding solutions that transform clinical environments into welcoming spaces. This unique project involved bringing a custom-built retro fibreglass caravan façade to life as decorative cladding for an MRI machine, helping create a more engaging and less intimidating experience for patients.

Working alongside Toast Design and Fibreglass Developments Ltd, we collaborated to produce a realistic caravan façade that fits seamlessly over the MRI scanner. Because MRI machines generate extremely powerful magnetic fields, no ferrous metals or magnetic materials could be used in the construction or signage components. Every element had to be carefully engineered using MRI-safe materials while maintaining the authentic appearance of a classic retro caravan. We manufactured and installed a range of custom non-metallic signage components, including digitally printed graphics, specialist vinyl applications, custom branding elements, and decorative finishes. Each component was selected and fabricated to meet the strict material requirements of an MRI environment while delivering exceptional visual quality and long-term durability.

Once assembled within the room the caravan completely transforms the appearance of the MRI suite, replacing the clinical look of the scanner with a fun, imaginative beach / camping theme that helps reduce patient anxiety—particularly for children and nervous patients. By creating a more relaxed and welcoming environment, themed MRI rooms can contribute to a more positive patient experience and smoother imaging procedures.
